GENERAL: Saurians are an ancient, noble reptilian race, believed by many in the world to be long extinct. The Saurian civilization was old when the other races were born, having survived the catastrophes that periodically cleanse the world. Ancient saurian scrolls tell of a time when the world was covered in jungle and giant reptiles stomped across the continents. While a proud, civilized people, the saurians are slow to adapt and lost much of their civilization during a great catastrophe many centuries ago. Now scattered across a colder, unforgiving world, saurians maintain as much of their ancient traditions as possible while acknowledging their status as a dying breed. The typical saurian is stubborn, stoic, and resolute. His pragmatic approach and willingness to accept the inevitable sometimes and unfairly labels him as defeatist.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Saurians are slightly taller and bulkier than most humans. Saurian skin is leathery and ranges from chalk white to deep yellow to muddy brown, which seems to be related to the climate in which they are born and raised. Most of their bodies are covered in fine scales that are usually metallic in color. Saurians don’t like to wear too much clothing and prefer breastplates and greaves to full suits of armor. In spite of their reptilian appearance, saurians are mammals and give birth to live young.
RELIGION: Most saurians have little use for religion as they feel that their gods abandoned them long ago. Saurians instead mostly pledge themselves to philosophies, and it is through these philosophies that some saurians manifest divine powers. This is not to say that some ssaurians do not worship other deities, but most believe that if their own gods abandoned their race, there would be no reason for other powerful deities to abandon them once again. Most saurians are lawful and feel that their civilization fell due to chaos.

SNOGARD ISLAND SAURIAN: The saurian race, having been spread out over the world, was a native to this island when the banished races first appeared. During the battles between the orc tribes and the banished races, the saurian remained neutral, seeing the battle as promoting even more chaos in the world. During the past five or six centuries, the saurian have adapted more to the cultural ways of the other races present on the island so that now, saurian history is well known to all, and the history of the banished races is known to the saurian. While most of the saurian present still feel that the fate of their race was inevitable, some long to find more information as to why the events of history unfolded as they did for their race.
